Heading to Seattle!

We're going to spend the holiday weekend in Seattle, where it will hopefully be a lot cooler than it is here! Doug is already on his way there from New York, and Carter and I are flying out in the morning. I will remember to take pictures this time! I'm hoping to take Carter on his very first boat ride.

We've had a busy week here. Doug has been gone and classes started, so I feel like I've been juggling a lot more suddenly! We're still searching for a nanny, but we've been lucky to have the same sitter for the last few days -- a bit of consistency for Carter.

He's been refusing bottles and not eating much during the day, so I got him a sippy cup, hoping it would be an option for getting milk into him. He liked chewing on the sippy spout right away, and quickly discovered how to get the milk out. He even seemed to like holding the handles:

I also got some faster-flowing nipples for the Dr. Brown's bottles. Hopefully that will encourage him to start eating more when I'm gone. Otherwise he's going to start reverse-cycling soon.

I think he's teething now. He chews on everything, all the time, and he's constantly drooling. He's been extra cranky lately, and restless at night. His gums feel a little firmer to me. I guess we'll see! I got a teething necklace at a baby boutique, and that's been really handy. It's a necklace with a big silicone pendant on it, basically a pretty teething ring. He's stopped chewing on my hair at least.

His hair is starting to come in. The back of his head used to be pretty bare, but it's starting to get darker now:

He'll be 8 months old in a little over a week. That doesn't seem possible. :-P

Matti has decreased her bottle feedings also during the day. She only takes in about 12 ounces until around 8:00pm when she goes to bed. I was worried, but I ready that anywhere from 20 to 30 ounces is normal. I have also been thinking about putting it in her sippy cup to see if she will want it then. She tends to also bite on the spout. It sounds like he is teething to me. Matti will bite anything and everything. Still no signs of teeth.
It is so hard to believe how fast they are growing up. I am just so happy we all have kids around the same age. I hope they are as close as we are.
Carter is a cutie pie. I cannot wait to give him hugs and kisses.
Have fun in Seattle.
Love,
Julie
