Beach trip 2010

We're at Ocean Isle Beach this week for our annual family beach trip. Every year my mom's family all get together and rent a house, and spend a week hanging out together. The house is gorgeous, huge and beachfront, with its own pool.

I've taken a bunch of pictures, and the easiest way to post them is as a slide show. They show the kids playing on the porch, in the pool, and on the beach.

We've really had a lot of fun so far. On the first day we went down to the ocean and Carter pretty much ran straight into the water. He loved the waves, and laughed and giggled when they knocked him down. It was all I could do to keep him from wading out over his head!

We've spent most of our time by the pool so far. Carter's swimming lessons have really paid off. He's completely independent in the pool with a pair of water wings on. He can get in, get out, swim around, go down the slide, and so on -- all while I relax on a float! It's cool to see him having so much fun in the water.

He hasn't really been as interested in the ocean after the first day, and has spent most of his beach time playing in the sand. He also likes to wander on the beach. Luckily this isn't prime vacation time, and we pretty much have the beach to ourselves, so when he wanders away I can just sit and watch him.

He's had fun playing with his cousins, though he's still mostly interested in playing by himself. He mostly watches the others from a distance while he does his own thing. He's definitely enjoyed riding around on the golf cart we rented, and requests to do that a lot. It has the magical ability to put him to sleep, so we've been going for rides at naptime. ;-)

That's all I've got time for now, but I'll post more later in the week.
