Carter on the move

It's amazing to watch Carter slowly make progress toward walking. He's gone from pulling up with difficulty to doing it with ease, from clutching solid surfaces with tight white fingers to holding onto moving objects with one hand, from falling over and crying at the slightest wobble to gracefully kneeling when he senses he's losing his balance. He's sort-of cruising now, but doesn't really go far yet. He spends most of his moving time crawling around, pulling up on everything he can, and then moving on to the next thing.

Here are a couple of videos, which may be boring to everyone who is not my mother, LOL. In the first, he's playing in the kitchen cabinets. We're in the process of putting child-proof latches on all but one, the one we keep his cups and stuff in. You can see here that he's pretty sure on his feet compared to what he was a month ago, but still has a way to go before he's ready to let go and take some steps of his own.

In this one, he's playing under the table. He has gotten brave and sturdy enough to pull up on the rolling chairs. He will also play with the trash can pedal to raise the lid.

He's really interested in "helping" with things I'm doing, and it's fun to watch him try to figure it all out. Here are some pictures of him helping me with the laundry this morning.

There doesn't seem to be any pattern to his sorting, though he is definitely putting things into piles. I'll have to keep watching.

Here are a couple of other cute shots from yesterday afternoon. Michelle had some chocolate mint cookies (from Whole Foods and made from good stuff, lest you think I let my baby eat this sort of thing all the time), and she let him try one. She had the good foresight to strip him down first.

The pictures don't do it justice. He was covered!

In napping news, I think we're back to two. He just can't make it on one, poor kid!

I feel like I could have written this blog, as Riley is at the same stage, even down to helping me with the laundry! They are such fun at this age... I just love watching them grow and learn.

Carter is just a few weeks behind Matti in what he is doing. She has went through the fussy phase for several weeks after she turned one. She was really clingy. Four weeks later she is playing by herself once again happy as can be. They change some much over night it is so amazing.
The picture of him in the cabinets is so familiar. He is doing such a great job.
The picture of him with cookie all over him is too cute!
I cannot wait to see him and celebrate his birthday.

Oh, you know my next comment, "I could just eat him!", so precious. His accomplishments yet amaze me. I would love to have a kiss from that sweet chocolate covered face.
We will see you guys upon our return from Jamaica to celebrate his BD.

Love,Aunt Pam
