Happy Friday

A couple of days on from his surgery, Carter seems to be doing really well. He hasn't seemed like he was sore today, and I haven't given him any tylenol. He slept better last night, and seemed more comfortable when being repositioned during nursing. He also hasn't had one of those horrible painful crying spells since the surgery. I was pretty sure at the time it was related to his hernia, and so far it looks like it might have been.

I haven't weighed him naked lately, but with clothes and a diaper on he's well over 8 pounds, so I'm guessing he weighs at least 8 pounds now. Crazy! I was hoping to catch a snapshot of him on the scale at my birth weight of 7 pounds 14 ounces, but I think I've missed it. He's gaining weight so quickly!

Here are some pictures of him taken this afternoon. He's wearing a pair of adorable wool longies I bought from someone online. She bought them from the person who knitted them, but her baby never actually had a chance to wear them. Carter is wearing an Imse Vimse fitted diaper under these. Check out the cute matching hat!

Here's a closer view of the longies. I like the drawstring waistband. He still has a bit of room to grow into these, as you can see.

The butt view. Look at the cute little sheep!

I adore this little hat, though it's too warm for him to wear it for any length of time. Isn't this just the sweetest little face ever?

In other news, I've been having some success nursing with Carter in the football hold. He seems to dribble less and work harder in that position, for some reason. I can even occasionally get him to latch on without the nipple shield, but only for a couple of minutes. It will be a long time before we've rid ourselves of that. But in the meantime, we're just working on getting up to a full feeding. Actually, if we can get up to two ounces, that will be close enough. Then he can just nurse more often, and hopefully I won't have to supplement as much.

OMG!!!!! Cutest soaker/hat EVER EVER EVER! I'm going to have to knit myself a hat like that now, you realize. :D (And there is a part of me that is very tempted to convert the soaker's design for the Elizabeth Zimmerman's longies idea. Hey, it snowed here last night.)

OOOOOHHHH he is so sweet. He has the cutest little face. He looks so peaceful resting. It is so funny how babies sleep with their arms raised up. Matti still sleeps that way.
His outfit is adorable. I just want to kiss his little cheeks.
Love,
