November 30: Last day in NC

31 posts in 30 days! I did it! It was fun to post more about Carter's life, and I hope those of you who made the effort to follow along enjoyed reading it. I think I did generally post more of the little details of his life than I had done before, and hopefully this will change the way I post for the better. :-)

Today it was cold and rainy, and so we just relaxed and hung around Mom's house. Carter played a lot, and even managed to sit up by himself (starting from lying on his stomach) a couple of times. He also enjoyed sitting in the toy box and pulling himself to standing in it, something he started to get really good at. He is doing a sort of commando crawl now, and I think he'll be crawling as soon as he works out what to do with his hands. He can get around fairly well by creeping and rolling, and can get to things he wants surprisingly quickly. It's just a matter of time...

Tonight we went out to dinner with Mom, Rick, Dad, and Barbara, to an Italian restaurant Doug and I went to a lot when Carter was in the NICU. It was the first time we'd been there since he was released from the hospital, and so it was interesting to go back. The food was just as good as we had remembered. Carter did great at dinner, sitting in his high chair and munching on food for more than an hour and a half. (He ate bread, mussels, calamari, cucumber, and asparagus.) He then spent another half hour being passed from person to person, and he just smiled and enjoyed it. This despite the fact that he had only one nap today and actually fell asleep five minutes before we left for the restaurant (and so we had to wake him up to put him in the car). He is really earning Good Baby Points these days! I have a feeling he'll cash them in soon enough...

Tomorrow we fly back to Austin, and I'm back to work on Tuesday. It's the last week of classes, so my semester is almost done. And OMG it's almost December! It's time to start putting out the Christmas decorations and getting the Christmas shopping done. I'm excited for Carter's first Christmas. :-)
